Description:

Black-and-white photograph of performers on stage during the Kalamazoo Central High School Band Follies Show. View shows violinists standing to the left side, four seated cellists, and four standing on the right side of the stage. In the back the stage are brass musicians or percussionists standing behind music stands. Part of a grand piano can be seen on the back left side of the stage. Over the group is a circular sign which reads "U.S.O." The women are wearing long dresses and the men wear military dress uniforms, except for the front-most man seated on stage. The stage is seen from a balcony. The photograph was taken for the Kalamazoo Gazette. According to Gazette articles published between March 26-29, 1943, the Kalamazoo Central High School presented a 300 cast variety show entitled "Yanks--Our Thanks" in order to honor those serving in the armed forces. The entertainment featured the evolution of America in dance, dramatic skits, and music.
