According to local sports researcher Bob Schichtel this is Grand Rapids South High player #15 Fred Esslair '50 a member of the 1949 Grand Rapids Herald All City Team. Fred Esslair of GR South was one of a group of Grand Rapids City League seniors who graduated at the end of the first semester and were ineligible to play second semester games. This group of players was featured in a an article in the Grand Rapids Herald. Esslair was an All City player in 1949.
