According to local sports researcher Bob Schichtel, Bigelow Field was located about a quarter of a mile south of Godwin High School. This is a promotional picture of preparation of Bigelow Field for the upcoming baseball season for both the Grand Rapids Jets, a Cubs affiliate and the Grand Rapids Chicks of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League. Pictured repairing the bleachers are, from left to right , Tony Palazzolo, the Bigelow roof boy, and Godwin Heights players Art Spoelstra and Don Meitz. Bigelow Field would burn down in 1952. Spoelstra would go on to an NBA career.
