Description:

Four men in dress clothes in a formal room at the Pantlind Hotel, located at Pearl St and Monroe Ave NW
According to local sports researcher Bob Schichtel: In the 1950-51 basketball season the Grand Rapids Hornets were a member of the National Professional Basketball League briefly. This was a preseason promotional, organizational, and administrative meeting in August of 1950 between league officials and local sports promoters and coaches. Seated on the left is NPBL Commissioner J. David Moore with Lou Trudel, new coach of the Grand Rapids Rockets hockey team, on the right. In the back row behind Moore is Stadium (Delta Plex) President Phil Simon and behind Trudel, George Glamack, basketball promoter and player. Phil Simon was a Grand Rapids Herald All City basketball player from Grand Rapids Union in 1935. The Hornets would last less than a full season.
