Depiction of the Guillaume Tell, a French war ship consisting of 84 guns, being attacked by three ships, likely the HMS Penelope, HMS Lion, and HMS Foudroyant. The Guillaume Tell was captured by the British on March 29-30, 1800, and taken into the British Navy, renamed the HMS Malta.; After the aquatint, "Capture of the William Tell," by Robert Dodd, first published in 1800.
