In the background is the exterior of the Kalamazoo Railway Supply factory, 1827 Reed Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan. The photograph was printed in the Kalamazoo Gazette, October 27, 1943 and identifies the men pictured starting with those seated, left to right: Private Fred V. Marshall (Minnesota), Boast-swain mate Frederick Kurchenmeister, and Corporal Alec F. Wack. Standing back of the three are the drivers of the party: Pfc. Spinner and Pvt. [Nou?]. The three, seated men were casualties of battles in Africa and the South Pacific and among the speakers who gave a talk to employees of the Kalamazoo Railway Supply Company, appealing to them to maintain war production.
