Many of the women are wearing Greek traditional attire, and one is wearing Korean traditional hanbok, and a couple others are wearing Chinese traditional wear. According to two articles from the Kalamazoo Gazette (October 31 and November 8, 1943), Talitha Gerlach staff member of the foreign division of the national board of the YWCA addressed 200 local women in Kalamazoo, Michigan, for the annual World Fellowship observance, a program that featured the international aspects of the YWCA. Special music for the program was provided by the Greek Girl's choir and the African American Girls' Chorus. The photograph was taken for Ann Smith and the YWCA.
