Lieutenant H. L. Hayes working on the side of a ship. View features the front left side of a wood ship's haul. According to the 1941 Culver Military Academy yearbook, Roll Call, Lietenant Hubert L. Hayes built an eighteen foot mahogany cruiser in the school shop in 1941. The photograph was taken for Curtis and the Culver Military Acadmy between December 10 and 13, 1940. Hubert L. Hayes was an assistant tactical officer of the band and instructor in the department of Music at Culver Military Academy in Indiana. Ship-building was a hobby.
