The lub letter / designd. & drawn by W. Summers Hunt, sculpt.

Description:

Derogatory depiction of "Angelica Lilywhite," an African American woman reading a "lub" letter from her "Adorable Lubber, Augustus Octavio Whiteman." She wears a heart-shaped pendant and sits unladylike on a couch reading her "billet-doux." In the letter Augustus proclaims he cannot think of anything but her "classic features" and he would be "de Blackest ob villains" if he could see such "lubliness without feeling its influence."; Inscribed in upper right margin: No. 4.
