[Part of East Falkland and several islands immediately to the north].
Pen and ink, topographical map showing the area around Port Egmont.; Appears to have been drawn by the same person who made a chart of the Straits of Magellan, also from the Shelburne Papers.; Map was removed from vol. 75 of the Shelburne Papers but does not seem to have accompanied any of the documents in the volume.; Formerly attributed to Capt. Samuel Wallis, it seems more likely to have been drawn during the Commodore John Byron expedition of 1764-66, which visited the islands and claimed them for Great Britain and whose commander named Port Egmont after the earl.; Notation of location of blockhouse, built in 1765, appears to be a later addition in a different hand.
