The Russell Scrapbook
Description:
The Russell scrapbook was compiled by Clara Comstock Russell (1866-1935). It contains clippings relating to the suffrage movement in Grand Rapids as well as the political activities of her husband, Huntley Russell (1858-1928). Both were active in several political, social, religious, and business organizations. Clara was a key figure in the women's suffrage movement in Michigan. She served as Vice-president of the Michigan Equal Suffrage Association and later as chair of the Republican Women's State Executive Committee. She also helped manage the family's business interests. Huntley Russell was a Republican State Senator, State Land Commissioner, and real estate developer.
